The Family Philia Challenge

Philia is one of the Greek words for love.  Specifically it refers to love between between family or friends.  I don’t know about you, but we could definitely use a little more philia around our home sometimes, especially between my older two!  What better time for the Family Philia Challenge than Valentine’s Day?! Love is … [Read more...]

Finding My Someday Now

This may sound shocking coming from a Christian blogger, but sometimes I struggle with my quiet time with God.  I’m a hands-on person. Sitting still can be a challenge. I keep saying that “someday” I’ll be better. Maybe I won’t be so busy.  I’m reminded of the popular phrase, “If the Devil can’t make you bad, he will make you busy.” Whether it’s … [Read more...]

Thankful for Homeschool

There are so many things to be thankful for, not only this Thanksgiving season, but always!  Thanksgiving, however, reminds me to actually stop and say thank you for all the little things. The Cow Said Neigh! and I Say, "Yay!"

Who doesn’t get inspired by a tender and loving story, especially when it is true?  I’m not yet talking about the book, The Cow Said Neigh!  I am talking about the true story of the author, Rory Feek.  Some of you may know him from his debut with his wife on Country Music Television’s show, Can You Duet.  Their soulful duets won many hearts, even … [Read more...]

Yay for Young Whit: The Traitor’s Treasure

Young Whit

If you are blessed with children who are avid readers, perhaps you understand my conundrum.  My oldest reads so fast that I can’t keep up with him. Knowing the loose lips (or pens) of some authors, it makes me cringe to set him free reading whatever he wants.  I don’t want to hold him back and make him read less either. So it’s refreshing when … [Read more...]

How To Help Someone Through the Fire

How to Help Someone Through the Fire

When something bad happens, you have two choices.  First, you can get angry and throw a fit.  The second choice, is to take a deep breath and realize that God has a plan, even in the mess.  My goal is to choose the latter.  It’s a lot easier to do so when you are surrounded by people shining God’s light and being His hands and feet.  We have been … [Read more...]

Faith. It’s important all the time, but in this Faith. It’s important all the time, but in this season of uncertainty, it feels even more important. I keep asking God to change my heart if what I want is not what he has for me, but the pull just keeps getting stronger. I am certain of what I hope for. It’s a struggle to be just as certain that He will provide it. But He is faithful even when we are not. Thank goodness! So we will praise Him in the storm...and wait. #faith #waitingplace #godisgood #hewillprovide
