Today’s adventure…squirrels and acorns!
I have provided a basic outline, not a word-for-word format, because your children will enjoy hearing things from your perspective. Thier answers and understanding will dictate how deep your conversations go and what direction they will take. Have fun!
Whooo is God? An Autumn Family Bible Adventure
Squirrels and Acorns: God has a Plan for Your Future
Intro: When was the last time you saw a squirrel? How do squirrels prepare for the coming winter? They collect nuts for the winter as part of God’s plan to provide for them through the winter. What might happen to an acorn that isn’t gathered up in the winter? It could become an oak tree.
God has a plan for everything, from the acorn that is gathered up to provide food for the squirrel, to the acorn that is left to become a mighty oak. God has a plan for your too!
Here are some fun facts about squirrels.
Here is a time-lapse video showing how an acorn turns into an oak.
Prayer: Let each person talk about something they think God wants them to do. It could be what they want to be when they grow up, to someone they think God wants them to be friends with, or even a chore that has yet to be done. Pray for each person to have guidance and be prepared for what God has in store for them.
Thoughts to Ponder: What is something important that you have done? Started a new grade at school, moved, cooked dinner with your family, etc. What did you have to do to prepare? God has great plans for us. We need to listen read the Bible, pray, and listen so that we will be prepared to do what God wants us to do.
Key Verses:
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 NIV
And now, my children, live by the help of Him. Then when He comes again, we will be glad to see Him and not be ashamed.” 1 John 2:28 NLV
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” James 2:26 NIV
Worship:
*If you have toddlers or preschoolers, you may want to sing “Squirrel Song” just for for fun.
Sing Audio Adreneline’s “He Moves, You Move.”

It’s a great idea to write out lessons and share them online. I haven’t thought about that. I might as well start for my daughter. 🙂
