Are you sitting at home in your jammies today? If so, there is no need for you to miss out on good deals. Or perhaps you are already home from your shopping and ready for a nap? If so, you can check these out when you wake up!
Maybe all the commercialism just annoys you, as it sometimes does me. Remember that you can give meaningful gifts to point the recipients back to the true meaning of Christmas.
Here are a couple of Black Friday deals that you shouldn’t miss…
What’s In the Bible
A few years ago, I happened upon What’s In the Bible’s Black Friday Sale. I didn’t know how good it was, so I put feelers out on FaceBook. Not many had heard of it at the time, but one person got back to me with rave reviews. He was a very respected mentor, so I decided to take the plunge and buy the set. They did not disappoint! The video series walks you through the entire Bible, explaining how it all works together to tell God’s story. Even though I grew up in church and have been involved in Bible studies for years, I learned a lot from this series! We have watched the videos several times. I am still picking up points that I missed the first time around. It is also highly entertaining and fun for the whole family. There are several videos, so you could get the whole Bible, or just one. It will be the gift that keeps on giving as you watch them throughout the year.
They also have a wonderful Christmas DVD that really explains the background of various Christmas traditions. There is a book format of that as well. I learned a lot from these too! We are using them as we study Christmas in our homeschool over the next month.
Truth in the Tinsel
Though I bought this a couple of years ago, life got crazy and we didn’t get to do it the first year. We finally did it last year and I LOVED it! A few Bible verses guide you through the Christmas story as you make a coordinating ornament. This is a perfect advent for all ages. My crafty preschooler thought it was the greatest thing ever. My 7 year old, who typically isn’t crafty, enjoyed making the ornaments too. The coordinating Bible verses can be explained more in depth for older ones. There are thousands of ornament ideas out there too, so you could make more complex versions if you wanted. There is even a FaceBook page for you to post photos and get inspiration. For the non-crafters out there, you can even print paper ornaments and just let the kids color. It’s all available digitally, so you will have what you need to start planning your advent experience immediately. The materials are all pretty basic craft supplies though, so there isn’t a lot of advanced prep required.
Use code BLACKTINSEL to get 40% off Truth in the Tinsel today only!
Good luck with your Black Friday shopping. Don’t forget to make it meaningful. Remember that every good gift comes from God!
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV

We’re going to be watching What’s in the Bible when we start doing Bible Road Trip in a few weeks. We got the Christmas DVD ages ago and the girls love it – they watch it anytime during the year.
