How many seasons have you passed through and thought, “Oh no! I really wanted to ________ but I never got around to it!” God has placed us in this time with these children, knowing that our lives were going to be busy. God created us, and our children, and put us together to experience this world.
“…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 ESV
Let’s enjoy the world God gave us and teach our kids as we go. Sure, it’s good to set aside time to focus specifically on the Bible. But God gave us this world as a blessing to inspire us. It is a reflection of how much He loves us. So let’s use the things of this world to point back to God.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20 NIV
I wish it were a simple 3 step formula, but it basically just boils down to us keeping our eyes and ears open to the things of God. If we are in the world and thinking about God, He will use the things of this world to reveal Himself to us. In turn, we will want to share what God is revealing to us with our children.
So let’s start NOW!
Pumpkins and scarecrows and apples…oh my! I love the fall! As promised last week, here are the details of Whooo is God? An Autumn Family Bible Adventure. Over the next 13 days, I will blog about something we love in the fall–apples, squirrels, popcorn. We will use the world around to explore scriptures that reveal the character of God, and how we should develop our character as well. As you study, you will experience these fun fall things together…taste test apples, bake pumpkin bread, design your own pumpkin. There will be something for all ages, so families with various dynamics can study the word together. Plus, it helps you make sure you don’t miss out on some fun family fall activities!
