Who is ready for a new year? It’s time to start planning! One of my mottos is Benjamin Franklin’s famous quote, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” The same is true of our spiritual lives. When we make a plan and commit to growing spiritually, God will bring the results. Here is a tip for spiritual planning for the new year…
The Spiritual Seeds Planner
I was so excited to get the new Spiritual Seeds Planner in the mail! Let’s be honest, new planners are always fun! But typical planners revolve around to-do lists. Very few take anything spiritual into account, let alone place a huge emphasis on it. Thankfully the Spiritual Seeds Planner is different. It’s the perfect way to focus on what’s really important when planning for the new year.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.Galations 3:22-23
The Fruits of the Spirit
The Spiritual Seeds Planner encourages you to choose a spiritual discipline to focus on each month. Each month starts with a smartly worded prayer for a particular discipline. Then it provides space to contemplate how it will apply to family/friends, community, yourself, and your work. Adorable garden themed stickers are provided to remind you to plant, cultivate, and grow the spiritual fruits throughout the month.
The scheduling pages have the time of day listed, which I LOVE! It keeps me from mindlessly listing a ton of things to do without realistic time expectations. There is also a place for to-do lists, but they are divided into work that you must do, and LIFE to do–the stuff that is really important, like time with God, family, and friends, as well as service.
I’m Looking Forward to the New Year
Like many others, I am looking forward to the new year. I can’t wait to use my new planner and be held accountable by writing down the fruits I’m working on. I pray it is a fruitful year for both you and me!
