I have provided a basic outline, not a word-for-word format, because your children will enjoy hearing things from your perspective. Their answers and understanding will dictate how deep your conversations go and what direction they will take. Have fun!
Whooo is God? An Autumn Family Bible Adventure
Candy–Nothing is Sweeter Than Jesus
Nothing is Sweeter Than Jesus! Click To TweetIntro: Who doesn’t love some yummy candy? What kind is your favorite? This time of year, we see lots of candy in the stores. Today we will celebrate the sweetness of God and the sweetest gift ever given–Jesus!
Thoughts to Ponder: How much do you like candy? What do you think makes candy so delicious? What is the sweetest gift you have ever been given?
Key Verses:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV
What is the sweet gifts mentioned here? (Both Jesus and eternal life!)
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
Can you ever buy this gift yourself? (No. That is what makes it so sweet!) Who do you have to get this gift from? (Hosanna–the God who saves)
Getting Personal:
What does the gift of Jesus mean to you? How sweet is it to have a personal relationship with Him? Do you think Jesus is better than candy? What does eternal life mean to you? Have you accepted this gift from Jesus?
Prayer: Thank God for the sweetness of His presence in your life. If you have not accepted the sweet gift of Jesus, take a moment to thank Him for all He has done. If you are ready, ask Him to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life. If you have already done this, ask Him to fill up your heart completely and to have a deeper relationship with Him.
