My sweet kids have a heart for the homeless–especially my 6 year old. She loves making and handing out Blessing Bags to them and praying for them.  She has been tossing around the idea for several months about starting a blog and selling something to benefit the homeless.  Now she is finally getting her big chance.

Gemma’s First Kids Can! Project

PERSONALIZED memory verse cards that help people understand how much God loves them.. Click To Tweet

Gemma loves art.  She is just beginning to explore the world that digital design can open up with simple programs for kids.  Together, we developed a set of personalized memory verse cards that help people understand how much God loves them.  Gemma helped choose the verses and the backgrounds. We would love it if you would check them out!

The sweetest thing is what Gemma said when she saw her name in the verses…

“This makes me feel so loved by Him!”  –Gemma

If you invest in some of these cards, I am confident that the recipient will feel the same way!

This makes me feel so loved by Him! Click To Tweet

Each month Gemma is going to have a special post on my blog where she will talk about the homeless and other causes, her current projects, and what you can do to help her help others.  Thank you for your support and helping her know that kids can make a difference!

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18 ESV

Without Further Ado, Here is Gemma’s Blog Post…

Hi. I am Gemma. I am 6 years old. I want you to help me find a way to help the homeless. Click To Tweet

Hi.  I am Gemma. I am 6 years old.  I want you to help me find a way to help the homeless.  I care about the homeless because I see them on the sidewalks. We make blessing bags for them, but sometimes we run out. I hope you will help me make some money for them.

 What I Am Doing

I am making personalized Bible verse cards for you. Since Valentine’s is this month, the verses are about how God loves us. (Jesus loves us all year though.)  You can give me your name, or the name of someone you love, and I will put them in the verses.  There are cute verse cards that you can print. You can use them any way you want:  print 2 copies and play a matching game, put them up around your house, or put them on a key ring to memorize them or pray for someone by name.

This month my goal is to make $20 for the homeless. (That is about 5 sales of my personalized Jesus Love You! Memory Verse Cards after fees.) I will donate this money to homeless charities.  Each set is $5.  I will give 50% to the homeless.  The other 50% is for fees and supplies and saving up for an American Girl Doll.

What to Look for Next Month

Each month we are going to come up with a new craft or project to sell so we can donate more money.  I hope you will like my ideas and share my projects with your friends.   I will be doing monthly blog posts to update you on my progress and let you know how you can help me.

Thank you for helping me make a difference,

Gemma

What would you like me to sell in the future?

What an angel. I taught Kindergarten and started a club called The Kids Corps at the school I was at. They are always looking for ways to make an impact in the community. I love this post because I believe it’s so important to help children start serving at an early age. Make it become a habit. Our future needs that!

    Good job!

What a wonderful way that she is helping others. I definitely think showing our children suffering in the world and helping them find a way to help is of great service to them.

This is such a neat idea! Our church has an every day kindness group that makes these bags every winter. My kids each grab a bag, pass them out during the week, and refill on Sunday. I pray her endeavor is successful!

Wow she’s such a great goal setter! I love the idea of personalized Bible cards. I think prayer bracelets would be a good idea too for future fundraising ideas.

Kids can absolutely make a difference! As a kid my brother and I went with my parents to make breakfast at a shelter several times a year! Last year when I was completing my degree in counseling I worked with a school district and they required some of their students to complete a community service event, feeding the homeless in the park! It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone, I participated in many of them!

People are more receptive to children when they can see how much they care. Children just seem to “get it” and want to help just because…not because they are getting anything out of it.

Definitely. I think it softens the hearts of adults and encourages them to do more too.
